Honda 125cc bikes – motorcycle and motorbike models, accessories and custom

125cc motorcycle – every Honda 125 motorbike at a glance

A125cc motorcycle is the most popular way into biking: every 125 is learner legal and can be ridden on a category A1 motorcycle licence.

Buying a 125cc motorbike in Switzerland almost always means a Honda 125. From the classic 125cc naked bike and the cult mini street bike through to the first electric motorcycle in the class, Honda covers every riding style. Every lightweight motorcycle in category A1 produces a maximum of 11 kW (15 hp) and may be ridden in Switzerland from the age of 16.

The seven models at a glance: the Honda CB125R is the sportiest 125 motorcycle in the range – Neo Sports Café styling, TFT display, IMU-ABS and a Showa fork. The Honda WN7 is the first electric 125 motorbike from Honda: around 100 Nm of torque, up to 140 km of range and no gears to shift. The Honda MSX125 Grom is the most agile 125 cc motorcycle of them all, with a 761 mm seat height and roughly 103 kg. The Honda DAX125 combines retro design with a semi-automatic gearbox, while the Honda CB125F (CB125M) is the affordable, frugal beginner motorcycle for commuters. Two retro bikes complete the line-up: the Honda Monkey (Z125) as the cult 125cc mini bike and the Honda Super Cub (C125), the best-selling motorcycle series ever built.

Day to day, a 125 motorbike keeps costs low: fuel consumption from around 1.5 l/100 km, low insurance premiums, low road tax and long service intervals. Every A1 motorcycle is allowed on the motorway as soon as it reaches 80 km/h – most Honda 125 cc machines run 100 to 120 km/h.

Honda Motorrad Zürich AG in Volketswil – the first Honda Dream Dealer in Switzerland – stocks the largest choice of Honda 125cc motorcycles, with practically every model also available as an ex-demonstrator. Test rides are offered for a small contribution towards costs, which is credited against the purchase. Add leasing and finance through Honda Bank, plus new 125 motorbikes, inspected second hand machines and ex-demo models around the 125 cc class.

A Honda 125 makes an excellent first motorcycle: these small motorcycles stand out for their handling and their durability – which is also why they hold their value so well.

Honda WN7 – the electric 125cc motorcycle with 11 kW

I am interested in the Honda WN7

The Honda WN7 is the first full-size electric motorcycle from Honda in the A1 class. It does not replace a 125 motorbike with a combustion engine; it is a different answer to the same question – a lightweight motorcycle you are allowed to ride on an A1 licence.

Honda WN7 technical data and performance

The electric motor of the Honda WN7 delivers 11 kW of continuous power – exactly the limit that applies to the A1 licence. In performance terms that puts it on a par with a 125 cc motorcycle, but it delivers its torque from a standstill. There is no clutch and there are no gears: open the throttle and the bike moves.

Honda WN7 range and top speed

The range of the Honda WN7 is designed for everyday use around Zurich – the commute, the shopping run, an evening ride. One charge is comfortable for commuting and city traffic; anyone covering long distances every day is better served by a classic 125cc motorbike. Top speed is in line with what any A1 motorcycle achieves.

Honda WN7 price and running costs

The purchase price of the Honda WN7 is above a comparable combustion model, the running costs are below it: no petrol, no oil changes, no chain and sprocket set to the same extent, fewer wearing parts. Riders who spend most of their time in city traffic recoup part of the extra outlay through running costs. Current prices are available from us in Volketswil.

Who is the electric 125 right for?

The Honda WN7 suits riders with an A1 licence who are mainly out and about around Zurich and can charge at home or at work. If you plan weekend tours over the passes or have no charging point, the Honda CB125R, the Honda MSX125 Grom or the Honda DAX125 is the better choice. The easiest way to settle that question is a test ride.
