Pitbike and minibike from Honda – CRF50F, CRF110F and CRF125F

Buy a pitbike - minibike and small motorcycle from Honda

CRF50F - CRF110F - CRF125F - new and used

A pitbike is the simplest way into off road riding: small, light and with a low seat. At Honda Motorrad Zurich in Volketswil we stock the small CRF range new and used - from the CRF50F for the youngest through the CRF110F to the CRF125F.

A minibike is not a toy, but it is not a race machine either. The models with the suffix F are built for good manners: power you can meter, manageable weight and a seat height at which the feet reach the ground. That is exactly what it takes to learn safely.

Which small motorcycle fits depends on height and experience, not on age. We put you or your child on the machine before the purchase and set up suspension and bar position. The gear belongs to it as well - nobody rides without helmet, goggles and body armour.

We remain your contact after the purchase: in our workshop we take care of service, maintenance and repairs for every pit bike and minimoto of the CRF range - from the air filter through the chain to the brakes.

Honda pitbike models - CRF50F, CRF110F and CRF125F

Pitbike Honda CRF125F Big Wheel - minibike with large wheels
Honda CRF125F Big Wheel - the largest pitbike of the range.

A pitbike is a small off road machine with a low seat and modest power. The name comes from the paddocks of the race tracks, where such machines were used for short trips. Today a minibike is above all one thing: the way into off road riding - for children, for teenagers and for adults who want to start small and light.

At Honda Motorrad Zurich in Volketswil we stock the small CRF range new and used. All three models carry the letters CRF and the suffix F - they are built for good manners, not for lap times. The competition machines with the suffix R are on our page for the motocross bike.

Honda CRF50F - the minibike to start on

The CRF50F is the smallest model of the range and made for the youngest riders. 50 cc, low weight and a low seat make it the classic first mini motorcycle. If you would rather have your child ride under instruction first, the right offer is on our page for mini motocross and youth motocross.

Honda CRF110F - the step in between with 110 cc

The CRF110F sits between the 50 and the 125. It offers more capacity and more reserve, yet stays a manageable small motorcycle that is easy to control. For many families it is the machine a child rides for several seasons before moving up to the 125.

Honda CRF125F and CRF125F Big Wheel - the largest pitbike

The CRF125F is the biggest model of the F range and therefore interesting for teenagers and adults looking for a minimoto for the yard or the paddock. The Big Wheel version has larger wheels and with them more ground clearance and a higher seat - the right choice for longer legs.

Which pitbike fits which size?

Minibike Honda CRF50F - small motorcycle for children
Honda CRF50F - the start on the smallest minibike of the range.

What matters is not the age but the height and the experience. A child has to reach the ground safely and hold the machine when stopped. That is why we measure at the counter and put you or your child on the bike before you decide.

  • CRF50F: the first minibike, for the smallest riders
  • CRF110F: the step in between once the 50 has become too small
  • CRF125F: for teenagers and adults, as a Big Wheel with more seat height
  • CRF150R and larger: the competition machines - see our motocross page

A pitbike for adults is no contradiction: the CRF125F is ridden by grown ups too, looking for a light machine for short laps. If you want a full size off road bike instead, the enduro models are the right place.

Pitbike service, parts and tuning

Pitbike service - Honda CRF125F minimoto in the workshop
Honda CRF125F - chain, air filter and brakes keep the pitbike reliable.

A small machine needs care as well - often more, because it is ridden hard and in the dirt. In our motorcycle workshop we handle the complete upkeep:

  • Pitbike service: oil change, air filter, valve clearance and brakes by running hours rather than kilometres
  • Pitbike parts: chain kits, brake pads, levers, grips and plastics for the whole CRF F range
  • Pitbike tyres: matched to the surface, from soft for sand to hard for stony ground
  • Pitbike tuning and custom work: bars, gearing and spring preload set up for weight and ability

Tell us where and how often the bike is ridden - the service interval follows from that. With children a short check before every longer outing is worth it.

Gear - nobody rides without protection

A pitbike forgives a lot, but falls are part of it. Helmet, goggles, gloves, boots and body armour belong there from the first ride, especially with children. The right size and the individual items are in our department for motorcycle clothing - we advise you in person so that nothing is bought too big.

Buy a pitbike - new or used

New minibikes are in stock here; the full list with colour, version and price is further up this page. Alongside them, checked used pitbikes keep coming in - with children's machines a sensible route, because they often have few running hours before the child outgrows them. Tell us the model you are after and we will let you know as soon as a matching used mini motorcycle arrives.

We take your current machine in part exchange - we buy and trade motorcycles of every brand. If you would rather pay in instalments, we will gladly calculate finance or leasing for you.

Pitbike, mini motocross or motocross - what is what?

The terms get mixed up in everyday use. This is how they fit together:

  • Pitbike / minibike: the small CRF F models - forgiving, low, for learning and short laps
  • Mini motocross and youth motocross: guided riding with children on a course, with a rental machine and gear
  • Motocross: the competition machines CRF150R, CRF250R and CRF450R for the race track
  • Trial: walking pace over obstacles - technique instead of speed

The same machine goes by many names: pit bike, minimoto, mini motorbike or simply small off road bike. What is meant is always the light machine with a low seat.

Where may you ride a pitbike?

A pitbike has no road registration. You ride it on private ground with the owner's consent or on official sites. For a guided start with children there are courses with a rental machine and protective gear:

That way you can find out whether a CRF110F or a CRF125F is the right size before you buy a pitbike.

Frequently asked questions about pitbikes and minibikes

Yes - new minibikes are in stock, and checked used pitbikes keep coming in. With children's machines that is a sensible route, because they often have few running hours before the child outgrows them.
Is a pitbike road legal?

What is the difference between the CRF125F and the CRF125F Big Wheel?
The Big Wheel has larger wheels and with them more ground clearance and a higher seat. It is the right choice for longer legs, while the standard version stays lower.
