Electric motorcycle and e-scooter from Honda

Electric motorcycle Honda WN7 – e-motorbike with 11 kW and 18 kW near Zurich

Electric motorbike, e-moped and e-motorcycle from Honda

Electric motorcycle, e-motorbike, e-scooter and e-moped – the electric Honda models in Volketswil

An electric motorbike or an electric scooter from Honda takes you through Zurich quietly and with zero emissions. At Honda Motorrad Zürich in Volketswil you will find the full electric range – from the compact e-moped and the e-scooter to a full-size electric motorcycle – new, as a demo model and on request as a used bike.

An e-motorcycle from Honda can also be ridden as a 125cc motorbike, which means with an A1 licence. The electric motorbike is restricted accordingly.

You will notice the difference every day: no oil changes, few wearing parts and therefore lower running costs than with a combustion engine. And then there is the ride itself – an e-motorbike pulls away without any gear changes and stays almost silent.

3Battery, range and charging

The Mobile Power Pack, charging times and real-world range

Battery, range and charging – the Mobile Power Pack

Many electric Honda models use the removable Mobile Power Pack: you take the battery home and charge it from an ordinary socket – no charging station required. How far an e-scooter or an electric motorbike will go depends on the model; the city models are designed for daily commuting. We are happy to give you the exact figures for the model you are interested in.

The removable principle is particularly practical for anyone without a garage of their own: the battery is light enough to carry and charges from any ordinary socket. If you run two batteries you can charge one while the other stays in the vehicle – so the electric scooter never stands still just because it is charging.

How far an e-scooter goes in everyday use depends less on the figure on paper than on your riding profile: short city trips with frequent stops are the best case for an electric vehicle, because no energy is wasted when slowing down and nothing is consumed while stationary. For the commute, the shopping run and errands the range of the city models is more than enough. If you ride long distances out of town every day, talk it through with us first – we will tell you honestly whether an electric model is the right choice.

You need neither a wallbox nor an installation to charge. Charging time depends on the model and the state of charge; we will give you the exact figures for your chosen model before you decide.

4Licence and categories

25 km/h, 45 km/h and A1 – which licence for which model

Which licence do you need for an e-scooter, e-moped or electric motorcycle?

What matters is the power class: small e-scooters and an e-moped can often be ridden from category AM or A1, while more powerful electric motorbikes require A1 or A. We will clarify which category applies to your chosen model before you buy.

In practice two limits decide which licence you need: top speed and motor output. A 25 km/h model falls into a different category than an electric scooter doing 45 km/h, and an electric motorcycle with 11 kW is classified differently from one with 18 kW. That is exactly why the 11 kW version of the WN7 is in the range: it is the variant for riders holding an A1 licence.

Because the classification differs from model to model, we will confirm the category that applies to your chosen machine before you buy – not in general terms. The steps towards the licence itself, from the learner permit and the first-aid course to basic training, are set out on our licence page.

One advantage applies to every electric model: there is neither a clutch nor a gearbox. Twist the throttle and you are away – that shortens the learning curve considerably and makes the switch easy, especially for car drivers.

6Buying advice

Costs, running costs, used bikes and the way to the right model

Used electric scooter, second hand e-motorbike and demo models

Are you looking for a used electric scooter or a second hand e-motorbike? Our stock of electric used bikes changes constantly. Tell us which model you are after – we will let you know as soon as a matching e-scooter, electric motorcycle or demo machine arrives.

Running costs of an electric motorcycle

An electric motorcycle has no oil changes and far fewer wearing parts than a combustion engine. That noticeably lowers running costs – which makes an e-scooter particularly interesting for anyone riding a lot in city traffic, where a petrol engine uses the most.

You will find the current prices and the availability of every electric model in the vehicle list on this page – it is updated continuously.

I would like advice on an electric scooter

Ask for advice

Before you buy, a sober comparison with a combustion engine pays off: purchase price, fuel or electricity, insurance, road tax and servicing together make up the calculation that counts. Electric models are often more expensive to buy and cheaper to run – how quickly that balances out depends entirely on your annual mileage. We will work it through for your chosen model, without sugar-coating it.

If you would like to spread the purchase, we offer financing and leasing. All prices quoted are non-binding and price changes remain reserved at all times.

And as with every two-wheeler: the decision is made in the saddle, not on the spec sheet. Let us know in advance and your preferred model will be ready – for a test ride we charge a contribution towards costs, which we credit against a purchase.
