A naked bike is a motorcycle without a full or half fairing – hence the name «naked». The naked motorcycle offers an upright riding position, a visible engine and a chassis built for agility. The term naked bike took hold in Europe in the mid-1990s and today the class is one of the most popular of all.
Honda has been one of the leading manufacturers in the naked bike segment for decades. The models stand for reliable engineering, sporty design and a riding feel that appeals to beginners and experienced naked bike riders alike. From the agile machine in the A restricted category to the powerful high-performance roadster, Honda has the right naked motorcycle for every riding style.

A naked bike does without the full fairing of a supersport machine and gives you a more upright, more comfortable seating position. The naked motorcycle is more nimble, more practical every day and still delivers a sporty ride – equally at home in town and on country roads. The faired models are shown on the page CBR supersport.
Neo Sports Café is Honda's design language for the naked bikes: round LED headlight, compact tail, visible frame and engine, combined with modern materials. The CB650R and the CB1000R carry that signature most clearly. The classic offshoot of it is shown under cafe racer.
That depends on the class. The 471 cc models are the lightest of the range, the 1,000 cc models the heaviest. The exact weight of each machine is given in the data sheet with the vehicle – tell us your height and we will put the right machine in front of you.
In our stock those are the 471 cc models: the CB500 Hornet and the CL500. Both are light and narrow and therefore easy to handle for smaller riders too. One class below them are the 125 cc models.
Several of them: the CB500 Hornet and the CL500 are in the A restricted category straight from the factory – known as A2 in the EU. The CB650R and the CB750 Hornet are available as restricted versions. Once you move up to category A unrestricted they can be converted to full power; all the models in this class are shown under 35 kW motorbike.
The same as any motorcycle: helmet, jacket and trousers with protectors, gloves, sturdy boots. Because the wind hits you unchecked on a naked bike, a windproof jacket is especially worthwhile. We stock the gear in house – see motorcycle clothing.

Naked bike with a 649 cc inline four – the sporty middle ground
Middleweight naked motorcycle in Neo Sports Café design
The CB650R is a genuine highlight of the naked motorcycle middleweight class and combines sporty performance with Honda's distinctive Neo Sports Café design. The inline four-cylinder engine is particularly notable – a layout rarely found in this class any more, and one that gives this naked bike an unusually smooth, rev-happy character.
With around 95 hp from 649 cc the CB650R has more than enough power for spirited country-road riding. At the same time the naked motorcycle stays pleasantly controllable and practical with a seat height of about 810 mm. The high-grade Showa upside-down fork delivers precise handling and a sporty feel.
The CB650R appeals above all to naked bike riders looking for an emotional machine with a characterful engine. Its modern design, high build quality and strong performance make it one of the most attractive options in the middleweight segment. It is also available in a version for the A restricted category, which makes it particularly interesting for many riders.

Streetfighter with 67.5 kW and low weight
With the CB750 Hornet Honda has created a naked bike that combines power, modern design and innovative technology to perfection. The 755 cc parallel twin delivers around 91 hp and gives an impressive power-to-weight ratio that comes into its own on twisty roads.
The Hornet was laid out consistently for agility and riding fun. Its low weight and compact geometry let you flick it through corners with ease. At the same time this naked motorcycle offers modern rider aids such as several riding modes, traction control and a TFT display with smartphone connectivity.
This naked motorcycle is aimed above all at riders looking for a modern naked bike with a sporty character. The CB750 Hornet offers an excellent combination of power, technology and everyday usability and is currently one of the most exciting machines in its class.

Naked bike with 1,000 cc – the streetfighter class
1,000 cc and 111.6 kW – the most powerful naked motorcycle of the range
The CB1000 Hornet is the flagship of the Hornet range: 1,000 cc of displacement and 111.6 kW of power, ridden on the unrestricted category A licence. The SP version goes one better on suspension and brakes. Both versions are here with us in Volketswil ZH.

Naked motorcycle for A restricted – the 471 cc entry point
471 cc and 35 kW with no restrictor needed
The CB500 Hornet produces 35 kW from 471 cc – exactly the limit of the A restricted category, with no restrictor needed. It is the successor to the CB500F and carries the Hornet design of its bigger sisters.

Roadster with 1,000 cc – the classic line

Which naked motorcycle suits you?
The ones in demand with us are the CB650R, the CB750 Hornet, the CB1000 Hornet, the CB500 Hornet and the CL500. Every one of them convinces as a naked motorcycle with reliable engineering, sporty design and excellent handling.
Yes, there are naked bikes made specifically for newcomers. As a naked motorcycle with 35 kW the CB500 Hornet is ideal for beginners and riders in the A restricted category – light and easy to handle. The CB650R is available as a restricted version too. More on this under beginner motorcycle.
The most powerful naked bike in the current range is the CB1000 Hornet with 111.6 kW, and in SP trim with even higher-grade suspension. Its predecessor, the CB1000R, combined superbike engineering with an exclusive roadster design and around 150 hp from its inline four.
For town use the CB500 Hornet, the CL500 or the CB750 Hornet are the naked bikes to pick. All of them are light, agile and practical – with low consumption and easy handling in traffic.
The naked bike CB650R has a 649 cc inline four with around 95 hp, a Showa upside-down fork and a seat height of about 810 mm. It is also available in a version for the A restricted category.

The CL500 is a street scrambler: 471 cc parallel twin with around 47 hp, high-mounted exhaust, upright riding position. That sets it clearly apart from the classic naked bikes and makes it right for town, weekend trips and the occasional detour onto unsurfaced tracks.

Packs, scrambler parts, luggage and comfort
The CL500 naked bike can be taken furthest in the scrambler direction: side panels, mudguard, screen and hand deflectors are available in two colour versions, plus rally footpegs and a taller seat. For everyday use there are saddlebags, a luggage rack and a 38-litre top box.

Street bike, street motorcycle, roadster, streetfighter and naked bike all mean the same machine in everyday use: an unfaired motorcycle for the road. The terms simply put the emphasis in different places – and that is exactly why you will find every model on this page.

Common questions about the terms
Both are unfaired. «Streetfighter» is the colloquial name for the powerful, aggressively styled version – with us that is the CB1000 Hornet. Technically the streetfighter is a naked bike of the big class.
A roadster is a naked motorcycle that is at home on the road: upright, handy, without a fairing – laid out for country roads and everyday riding rather than for the racetrack.
The upright riding position is more comfortable and gives a better view, the machine feels handier, and repairs cost less because there are no expensive fairing panels to break. What you give up is wind protection – a screen from the accessory range helps.

Naked bikes with 471, 649 and 755 cc
The E-Clutch takes over the clutch work: pulling away, shifting and stopping all work without the clutch lever, but the lever is still there and can be used by hand at any time. In town traffic and in tight hairpins that takes a noticeable load off your left hand.
In our stock are the CB500 Hornet E-Clutch, the CB750 Hornet E-Clutch and the CB650R E-Clutch. Which versions are available right now is shown by the vehicle list on this page.
On top of that the current models carry the usual electronics: several riding modes, traction control and a TFT display with smartphone connectivity. If you would rather not shift at all, the automatic models are shown under automatic motorcycle.

Common questions about the technology
The CB500 Hornet, the CB750 Hornet and the CB650R come in an E-Clutch version. All three are in our stock.
The most comprehensively equipped is the CB1000 Hornet SP. But the CB750 Hornet also offers riding modes, traction control and a TFT display with smartphone connectivity.
Yes. The clutch lever is still there and works as usual – you decide when you need it. The best thing is to try it out on a test ride.

What a naked bike is good for
From the commute to the weekend tour
Town and commuting: this is where the light models play to their strengths – the CB500 Hornet, the CL500 and the CB750 Hornet are agile, easy to place and economical. With E-Clutch, stop-and-go traffic gets more relaxed again.
Country roads: the core territory of the naked bike. The CB650R with its inline four and the CB750 Hornet are built for it; if you want more power you take the CB1000 Hornet or the CB1000F.
Touring: with a screen, luggage and heated grips from the accessory range a naked bike turns into a usable touring machine. If you regularly ride long distances, also take a look at the tourers and the adventure motorcycles.
Getting started: for the first seasons the CB500 Hornet and the CL500 are the obvious choice – both in the A restricted category. If you want to start smaller still, the right models are under 125 cc motorcycle.

Common questions about everyday life with a naked bike
With a screen, a luggage solution and heated grips from the accessory range, certainly. Without wind protection the motorway gets tiring over time – for regular long distances a tourer or an adventure model is the better choice.
What matters is not gender but seat height and weight. Light and narrow are the CB500 Hornet and the CL500; for the CL500 there are also different seats. Further models and riders' reports under motorbikes for women.

The CB650R has the inline four – rev-happy and with that characteristic sound. The CB750 Hornet relies on the parallel twin with more pull at less weight. The best thing is to ride both.

Four circuits, all groups, machines on site
At the MX-Academy the motorcycle courses have 4 different circuits available with several groups. Among them is a beginners' circuit with gravel, to make the start on loose ground as easy as possible. Depending on your progress you can change group at any time.
The same goes for the machines: motorcycles in every size are available, for beginners as well as competition bikes. The aim of every course is that all participants for whom the machine matches their height can ride the competition bike on the advanced circuit.
With the MX-Academy training system we see enormous progress in every participant within a single day.
The MX-Academy is the largest enduro and motocross school in Europe, has around 20 years of experience and holds many national and international off-road titles.
