Learning to ride motocross - motocross courses in Switzerland
You do not learn motocross on the road, you learn it on the track. Anyone buying a first dirt bike benefits from a structured motocross course: body position, where to look, braking off road and handling jumps safely are learned far quicker under instruction than on your own.
The MX Academy runs motocross courses all over Switzerland - from the taster course for beginners to training for experienced riders. Rental motocross machines and protective gear are available on site, so you can try a motocross bike before you buy one.
Honda motocross models - CRF150R, CRF250R and CRF450R
Honda CRF250R - the most widely ridden MX bike in the middle class.
Every Honda motocross machine carries the letters CRF and the suffix R for racing. Three classes cover the whole sport, from a first race in the junior ranks to the championship. All three are available here as a motocross bike new and used.
CRF150R - the entry level motocross bike for young riders
The CRF150R is the classic way into the sport. Its four stroke engine is easy to meter, the dirt bike stays light and manageable, and the seat height suits younger riders. If your child is smaller still, the right machine is on our page for mini motocross and youth motocross.
CRF250R - the versatile 250 motocross bike for improving riders
The CRF250R is the most common machine in the field: enough power for fast lap times, yet still controllable. As the CRF250RWE and as the HRC Works Edition it comes with works suspension, upgraded brakes and a racing finish. An MX bike of this class fits club racing just as well as open practice on a motocross track.
CRF450R - the 450 motocross bike for experienced racers
The CRF450R is the premier class of motocross. Strong drive, firm suspension and a chassis built for hard landings - this motocross bike asks for experience and rewards it. The HRC Works Edition and the 50th Anniversary version are the works variants of this range.

A motocross bike works far harder than any road machine. Sand, mud and full throttle cost substance, so motocross service decides how long a dirt bike stays reliable. In our motorcycle workshop we handle the complete upkeep:

How much motocross gear you really need depends on where you ride. A basic outfit is enough for a first course, while for racing we recommend a neck brace and a chest protector.

Motocross, enduro, supermoto or trial - which is which?
A motocross bike is built for a closed circuit. If you want to ride open terrain or tarmac, the right type is here:

The same machine goes by many names: dirt bike or dirtbike, MX bike or simply motocross machine - what is meant is always the off road bike for a closed circuit. If you are unsure which type suits you, arrange a test ride; there is a contribution towards costs, which is credited against the purchase price.
Riding motocross - tracks, courses and training in Switzerland
A motocross bike has no road registration. You ride it on official motocross tracks, and Switzerland has a good number of them, from sand to hard natural ground. If you are new to the sport, guided training is the quickest way to learn the technique.
Enduro training - for open terrain instead of a closed circuit
Rental motocross machines and protective gear are ready at the courses. That way you can find out whether a CRF250R or a CRF450R is the right choice before you buy a motocross bike.
