The Honda CB 650 R is a naked bike with a 649 cc inline four producing 70 kW (95 hp). New on board is the E-Clutch, which lets you change gear without operating the clutch. Every version in our showroom in Volketswil ZH is available as a new machine – along with accessories, custom work and servicing from our own workshop.
The Honda CB 650 R runs a 649 cc inline four producing 70 kW. Four cylinders have become unusual in the middleweight class – most rivals use a twin. That is exactly where the CB 650 R draws its character from: eager at the top, entirely manageable lower down.
Standard equipment includes HSTC traction control and full LED lighting. The instrument panel is deliberately straightforward rather than burying you in menus.
The full-power version is ridden on a category A licence. It is also available in a restricted version for A2 – so it suits riders who have only just passed their test.

A 649 cc inline four producing 70 kW. Four cylinders are the exception in this capacity class, and that shapes both the sound and the way it revs.
70 kW.
The full-power version requires category A. A restricted version for A2 is also available.
Yes, a 35 kW version is available. We will work out with you which one matches your licence.
HSTC traction control and full LED lighting are part of the standard specification.
Our current stock holds red, black and blue. The vehicle list on this page shows what is available right now.
The E-Clutch is Honda's electronically controlled clutch. It takes over the work of your clutch hand when pulling away, changing gear and coming to a stop – the gearbox remains a conventional manual, and you still select the gears yourself.
The difference to an automatic: you keep shifting yourself, only the lever becomes optional. And if you want to, you can still pull the clutch by hand – the lever stays functional and the system simply steps aside.
In town the benefit is greatest: traffic queues, lights, roundabouts – your left hand stays relaxed. Every CB 650 R in our stock is an E-Clutch model.

An electronically controlled clutch. It operates the clutch by itself when pulling away, shifting and stopping – gear changes are still made with your foot.
No. With the E-Clutch the manual gearbox stays, only the clutch hand is freed up. An automatic selects the gears for you.
Yes. The lever remains fully functional – take hold of it and the system steps aside. You can switch between the two at any time, without stopping.
Above all riders in town and stop-start traffic, and anyone whose clutch hand tires on long days. It also takes the fear of stalling away from newer riders.
It is covered by the regular service schedule. We check it at every service in our workshop.
Yes, and we recommend it – five minutes make the difference obvious. We charge a contribution towards costs for the test ride, which is credited to you when you buy.
What you see in the list are our used machines, demonstrators and demo bikes. If nothing is listed, we have none in stock for immediate sale at the moment. But as soon as their demo period ends, as-new machines become available for sale on a rolling basis.
Please get in touch. As-new demonstrator, demo and good second hand machines come in all the time – often as part exchanges, before they are advertised, or once their demo period has ended. Tell us what you are looking for: we will contact you as soon as something suitable arrives and are happy to reserve it for you.
We take your current machine in part exchange. Bring it in or send us photos and details – we will make you an offer and set it against the purchase price.

A machine from our demonstrator fleet: little used, technically as new, usually with the balance of the warranty – and cheaper than a new bike.
A complete service record, wear parts such as chain, brakes and tyres including tyre age, accident-free history – and on the E-Clutch versions the current software version.
Yes, including older ranges and other makes. We appraise the machine here and credit it against the purchase.
Yes, for a contribution towards costs which is credited against a purchase. Please book in advance so the machine you want is ready.
That depends on the age and mileage of the individual bike. Demonstrators often still carry the factory warranty – we tell you exactly what applies to each machine.
We stock the genuine Honda accessory range for the CB 650 R and fit it too. The most requested parts one by one.

The inline four of the CB 650 R sounds considerably harder with a different exhaust system. We only fit systems with valid Swiss type approval.
Anything else lands you in trouble at the next roadside check and costs the registration. We handle the paperwork.
Honda does not list an end silencer for the CB 650 R in its genuine accessory range. We therefore fit aftermarket systems and clarify beforehand what can be registered in Switzerland.

The quickshifter allows gear changes without the clutch and without closing the throttle. On winding roads the machine stays calmer for it.
On the E-Clutch versions this makes a particularly relaxed combination. We tell you what your machine carries from the factory.

As a Honda Dream Dealer we service the CB 650 R with genuine parts and Honda diagnostics – chain, brakes, tyres, roadworthiness preparation and winter storage. We look after the E-Clutch version in full, including software status.
Custom work does not affect registration or warranty as long as the parts are approved. That is exactly what we watch when selecting them – and we document the work.
The most requested are a sports exhaust, quickshifter, short tail tidy, crash protection, heated grips and a screen. We fit Honda genuine accessories and advise on the combination.
Yes, an Akrapovic silencer is among the most popular modifications. Approval matters – we clarify in advance what can be registered in Switzerland.
They solve different problems. The E-Clutch frees your clutch hand; a quickshifter allows gear changes without closing the throttle. We will show you on the machine what that means for your riding.
Yes, in our own workshop in Volketswil – from a tail tidy to a complete build. Get in touch and we will look at your machine together.
When Honda genuine accessories are fitted properly by us, the factory warranty stays in place. It can be extended to up to 72 months with no mileage limit.
From us. We carry brake pads, chain kits, filters, spark plugs and batteries; everything else is ordered through the Honda parts service.
In town the CB 650 R is at its best: narrow, easy to place and, thanks to the E-Clutch, free of constant clutch work in traffic.
On country roads the way the four delivers its power suits the rhythm of a good road – enough drive to press on without living at the limit.
Weekends in the mountains: the CB 650 R is light enough to enjoy hairpins and strong enough for the straights between them. If you ride two-up with luggage regularly, talk to us about the touring models in the range.
As a first bike after the test: with the restricted A2 version you ride the same machine and have it opened up later – there is no need to change bikes.
Yes – in the restricted A2 version, and the E-Clutch removes the early worry about stalling. For a safe start we also recommend a safety training course.
Very good. A narrow build, clear view and the E-Clutch make the daily ride relaxed, especially in stop-start traffic.
Yes. It is light enough for tight hairpins and has ample reserves on the climbs.
The CB 650 R is built as a two-seater. For regular two-up touring with luggage we are happy to show you the more travel-oriented models.
For stretches, yes. As a naked bike it runs without a fairing – riders who use motorways often fit a small screen, which noticeably reduces wind pressure.
Yes, we offer winter storage – including battery care and a check before the new season.
The first thing riders notice is the sound of the inline four – a rarity in this class. Add an upright riding position that looks neither like a tourer nor a supersport machine, but simply like a motorcycle.
Day to day, the clear view counts: a narrow build, an instrument panel you can read at a glance, no wandering through menus. Riders coming from a twin need a few kilometres to make use of how eagerly it revs – after that, few want to go back.
How it feels for you is settled faster by a test ride than by any road test. We charge a contribution towards costs, which is credited to you when you buy.

Intervals depend on mileage and age. We record them in the service book and remind you in good time – appointments through our workshop.
The factory warranty can be extended to up to 72 months with no mileage limit.
Well-kept Hondas are sought after. A complete service history and genuine accessories both tell – and we will take your machine in part exchange.
Yes. We charge a contribution towards costs, credited to you when you buy – arrange it through our rental and test ride page.
Stock changes continuously. Alongside new machines we also hold demonstrators – have a look at the vehicle list on this page.
Yes, through Honda Bank on attractive terms – see leasing and finance.
Comparison is easier when the machines are next to one another. The faired sister model is shown under supersport bikes.
| Model | Displacement | In short |
|---|---|---|
| Honda CB 650 R | 649 cc inline four | Four-cylinder sound with E-Clutch, the everyday naked bike |
| Honda CBR 650 R | 649 cc inline four | Same basis with a full fairing and more wind protection |
| Honda CB 750 Hornet | 755 cc twin | More torque low down, stronger initial drive |
| Honda CB 500 F | 471 cc twin | The lighter way into the naked class |
Current prices are shown on each machine in the list on this page and in its detail view.
Same basis, different intent: the CB is the naked model with an upright riding position, the CBR adds a full fairing and more wind protection.
The Hornet is a twin with strong drive from low revs, the CB 650 R a free-revving four. It is mostly a question of character – ideally ride both.
For the smooth power delivery and the sound. Fours have become rare in the middleweight class – which is exactly what draws many riders to the CB 650 R.
It is Honda's name for the design line of the CB range: a round headlight shape and visible engineering combined with modern equipment.
The CB 650 R itself comes in a restricted version. Further models are shown under A2 motorcycles and 35 kW machines.
Yes, and we encourage it. Let us know beforehand and we will have the machines ready for you.
What decides a tight moment is rarely the engine. Braking on a wet surface, swerving in traffic, where you look through a bend – that is what keeps you upright. More speed and more lean never come from more courage or more risk, but from better coordination, clean timing and precise vision. Anyone riding faster than their technique allows will come off sooner or later.
The best place to train that is away from public roads. Off road the surface is uneven and loose and speeds are lower – which widens the time window for every input and lets you work near the limit with far less danger than on tarmac. A light, agile machine forgives far more mistakes. Once the technique is there, you carry it across to your own CB 650 R.
Courses and training dates are run by the MX-Academy. Participants are split into groups and analysed individually. The school is run by Chris Möckli, a two-time European champion; it is supported by Honda Switzerland and has the Honda off-road models on site. You are welcome to bring your own machine.
