The Honda X-ADV750 – crossover between scooter and bike, with accessories

Honda X-ADV750 – the 745 cc adventure scooter

The X-ADV750 is Honda’s crossover between scooter and motorbike: 745 cc, 43 kW and a dual clutch transmission as standard – there is no manual version. As a 35 kW version it also works on a restricted licence. At our place in Volketswil ZH it is available new and second hand, along with the full range of Honda original accessories, custom work and servicing.

Honda X-ADV750 – 745 cc and 43 kW

Scooter convenience on a motorbike chassis

The X-ADV750 runs 745 cc and produces 43 kW. It is the same twin as in the NC750X: plenty of torque low down, built for everyday use rather than headline figures. It is ridden on the full category A licence.

What sets it apart from a scooter is the chassis: long suspension travel, larger wheels and an upright riding position that owes more to an adventure bike. Hence the term adventure scooter – or crossover, because it combines both.

We stock the 2026 model year, including the Special Edition. Details of individual machines – colour, mileage, equipment and price – are in the vehicle list further down this page.

FAQ engine & specs

Common questions about the Honda X-ADV

The X-ADV750 has 745 cc and produces 43 kW. The restricted version is 35 kW.

Both. It has the drivetrain and controls of an automatic, but the chassis, suspension travel and riding position of a motorbike. It requires a full category A licence, not a scooter licence.

Category A. With the 35 kW version you can ride it on a restricted licence as well – see our beginner bike page. The route to a Swiss licence is on our motorcycle licence page.

Most recently the 2026 model year, including the Special Edition. What is available right now is shown in the vehicle list on this page.

Same engine, different concept: the NC750X is a conventional motorbike and can be had with a manual gearbox. The X-ADV has scooter controls, a step-through style riding position and always a dual clutch.

2DCT & versions

Dual clutch as standard and the 35 kW version

Honda X-ADV with DCT – no clutch lever

There is no manual version

The X-ADV750 comes with a dual clutch transmission as standard: no clutch lever, no gear pedal. It shifts by itself, or by button if you prefer. Honda does not offer a manual variant of this model – unlike the NC750X, where you can choose.

Day to day that is the biggest difference to a conventional motorbike: in traffic the left hand is free, hill starts stop being an issue, and in stop-start conditions the constant shifting disappears.

Other Honda models without shifting are on our automatic motorbike page.

Honda X-ADV750 with dual clutch transmission DCT – automatic motorbike for sale in Zurich

Honda X-ADV with 35 kW for the restricted licence

The restricted version

The 35 kW version may be ridden on the restricted category – known as A2 in the EU, as A restricted in Switzerland. It is a common choice for riders still within the restricted period.

After two years without an accident the machine can be converted to full power. We carry out that conversion in our own workshop.

The Special Edition differs in colour scheme and equipment details; technically it is identical.

FAQ DCT & versions

Common questions about the gearbox

Yes. The dual clutch transmission is standard; there is no manual version of this model.

Yes, by button. Alongside automatic mode you can select the gear yourself at any time.

With the 35 kW version, yes.

Yes, once the period has passed. We convert the machine and register the change.

A version with its own colour scheme and equipment details. Engine and gearbox are identical to the standard model.

Honda offers five accessory packs for the X-ADV750. They can be ordered individually or combined; we fit and set up everything here in Volketswil ZH. If you only need a single item, that is fine too.

One detail that matters more in practice than it sounds: the One-Key system. It lets you open the top case with the same key as the machine – no second set of keys, no hunting at the petrol station.

Five: Travel (panniers), Urban (top case), Adventure (protection and fog lights), Comfort (seat, leg deflector, heated grips) and Style (floor panels, park brake lever, covers). Available individually or combined.

The Smart Top Case holds 50 litres – enough for two helmets. A pillion backrest belongs to the same pack.

26 litres on the right, 33 on the left. The difference comes from the exhaust on the right hand side. Inner bags are included in the Travel pack.

It lets you operate the top case with the same key as the machine – one key for everything.

Yes, everything is fitted and set up here in Volketswil ZH. If you buy a machine from us, the accessories go on before handover.

5Workshop & servicing

Maintenance, repairs and inspection in Volketswil ZH

Honda X-ADV servicing and running costs

Our own workshop, Honda trained

We service the X-ADV750 in our own workshop: scheduled servicing, oil changes, brakes, tyres, final drive and preparation for the Swiss roadworthiness test. We keep the service book up to date, which protects the value when you come to sell.

The dual clutch transmission needs no special treatment, but it does need clean work by people familiar with it. Running costs also cover what comes up between appointments: a tyre before a tour, a battery after the winter, converting the 35 kW version to full power.

Everything about servicing, repairs and running costs is on our motorcycle service page.

Honda X-ADV750 – engine and exhaust, servicing in our own motorcycle workshop

FAQ workshop & servicing

Common questions about maintenance

That depends on the scope – minor service, major service or additional work. We quote beforehand; details on our motorcycle service page.

It needs no special treatment, but it does need clean work to specification. We are set up for it.

Yes. We check the machine over in advance and put right anything that would be flagged.

Yes, regardless of where you bought it.

Usually yes. Give us the year and frame number and we will check availability.

6Crossover & adventure scooter

Why this machine does not fit a category

What an adventure scooter is

Between scooter and adventure bike

The term adventure scooter describes exactly what Honda built with the X-ADV: the controls of a scooter – no clutch, no shifting, storage under the seat – combined with the chassis of a motorbike. Long suspension travel, larger wheels, an upright position with a view over the traffic.

Others call it a crossover or the SUV among scooters. The comparison holds: as an SUV combines the height of an off-roader with the comfort of a saloon, the X-ADV combines everyday usability with roads where an ordinary scooter grounds out.

In practice: farm tracks and unsealed roads are no problem, nor are kerbs and potholes. For genuine off-road an adventure bike remains the better tool.

Honda X-ADV750 front wheel with block tyres and long fork travel – crossover between scooter and adventure bike

FAQ crossover & adventure scooter

Common questions about the concept

A machine with scooter controls and a motorbike chassis: no clutch, but long suspension travel, larger wheels and an upright riding position.

Farm tracks and unsealed roads, yes. For genuine off-road an adventure bike is better suited.

Yes. Honda offers an organiser for it in the Urban pack so nothing slides around.

Because it combines the height and robustness of an off-roader with the comfort and controls of a scooter.

Yes, category A – despite the scooter controls. With the 35 kW version a restricted licence is enough.

7What it is good for

Commuting, touring and everyday riding around Zurich

Where the Honda X-ADV makes sense

Commute, weekend tour, alpine pass

Commuting. This is where the X-ADV750 is at its best: narrow enough to filter, no shifting in stop-start traffic, storage under the seat. On the run from Volketswil into Zurich you notice that every morning.

Weekend touring. With panniers and a taller screen it handles several days away without complaint. The upright position spares your back, the long suspension travel the rest.

Alpine passes. Torque low down suits tight hairpins, and the automatic takes the constant shifting off your hands – on roads with endless switchbacks that is a real difference.

Getting back into riding. Anyone returning after years off, or moving up from a scooter, finds here the easiest route to a full-size machine – and the 35 kW version opens it up to riders on a restricted licence.

Honda X-ADV750 cockpit with storage – commuting, weekend tour and alpine pass

FAQ what it is good for

Common questions about using the machine

That is what it was built for: no shifting in traffic, storage under the seat, narrow enough to get through.

Yes. With panniers, top case, backrest and a taller screen it is equipped for multi-day trips two up.

Particularly so. Without a clutch, a large part of what makes people uneasy after a long break simply disappears. A refresher course helps as well.

Well – torque low down suits tight hairpins and the automatic removes the constant shifting.

The twin is designed to work at low revs, which shows in fuel use. The actual figure depends on how and where you ride.

8Comparisons

Where the X-ADV sits – and when another model fits better

The Honda X-ADV compared

Honestly: not the right machine for everyone

Against the NC750X: same engine, different concept. If you want a conventional motorbike – tank between your knees and optionally a manual gearbox – go there. The X-ADV is for those who value scooter controls and storage.

Against the Forza 750: the Forza is the more comfortable road scooter with a lower seating position. The X-ADV has more suspension travel and the tougher build – as soon as rough roads enter the picture it has the advantage.

Against an adventure bike: the Transalp goes further off-road and can be shifted. But if you mainly ride tarmac and still do not want to give up suspension travel, the X-ADV serves you better.

Every model with automatic transmission is compared on our automatic motorbike page.

Honda X-ADV750 from the side – adventure scooter compared with other models

FAQ comparisons

Common questions about choosing a model

If you want scooter controls and storage, take the X-ADV. If you want a conventional motorbike, the NC750X offers the same engine in a different guise.

The Forza 750 is the more comfortable road scooter, the X-ADV the tougher one with more suspension travel.

Several. The overview is on our automatic motorbike page – on the X-ADV it is standard, with no alternative.

Technique decides, not power

Courses and training for X-ADV riders

From the learner permit to safety training

What decides a hairy moment is rarely the engine: braking on a wet surface, swerving, where you look. More speed and more lean never come from courage or risk but from coordination and timing – ride faster than your technique allows and you will come off sooner or later.

That the X-ADV has no clutch takes one task off your hands – every other one remains. All the more reason to train what actually counts.

Training happens away from the road: off-road the surface is uneven, the speed lower and the window of reaction wider. Afterwards you carry the technique across to your own machine.

Courses and dates at the MX-Academy: small groups with individual analysis, led by Chris Möckli, twice European champion, supported by Honda Switzerland. If you still need the licence itself, the process is on our motorcycle licence page.

FAQ riding courses

Common questions about training

At the MX-Academy, where you will find all courses and current dates.

No. Training is on bikes provided, off-road – you then transfer the technique to your own machine.

Yes. Braking, swerving and where you look are independent of the gearbox – and that is exactly what it is about.

The steps from learner permit to test are described on our motorcycle licence page.

In the 35 kW version yes, on a restricted licence. Riding technique still decides – which is what the course is for.
