Everything about buying a Honda NT1100: NT1100 DCT, MT & Electronic Suspension, 1,084 cc Africa Twin engine, 75 kW, 112 Nm, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto as standard. Model years SC84 (2022–2024) and SC88 (from 2025), original accessories, top box, screen, Akrapovic, crash bars, quickshifter, test rides, leasing, trade-in and the Honda 6-year Swiss warranty — at Honda Motorrad Zürich AG, the first Honda Dream Dealer in German-speaking Switzerland, in Volketswil ZH.

The Honda NT1100 combines long-distance comfort with everyday usability like few other machines. At Honda Motorrad Zürich AG in Volketswil — the first Honda Dream Dealer in German-speaking Switzerland — you will find all three versions: NT1100 MT, NT1100 DCT and NT1100 DCT with Electronic Suspension and its semi-active Showa EERA setup.
The proven 1,084 cc parallel twin from the Africa Twin delivers 75 kW and 112 Nm of torque — together with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, standard-fit panniers and a five-position screen. With the Honda 6-year Swiss warranty you get the longest factory cover in the sport tourer class.
Honda rightly calls the NT1100 a "get on and ride" machine. You do not need to buy anything extra to be ready for a tour:
Equipment this complete sets the benchmark in its class — and despite the full package, the NT1100 is positioned well below the BMW R1300RT. You will find the current prices in the vehicle list on this page.

The NT1100 is powered by a modified version of the proven Africa Twin engine: a liquid-cooled 1,084 cc parallel twin with a Unicam four-valve cylinder head and the characteristic 270° crankshaft. The uneven firing order gives it a sonorous note and harmonious drive.
For the current generation Honda has thoroughly revised the engine: aluminium cylinder liners save weight, modified longer pistons raise the compression ratio, and the oil tank has been moved inboard. The torque curve has been deliberately improved — 112 Nm at 5,500 rpm means 7 % more punch in the mid range than its predecessor.
Power remains 75 kW at 7,500 rpm. Ride-by-wire electronics control HSTC traction control, wheelie control and the five riding modes. Drive to the 180-section rear tyre is by chain.
DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) is Honda's own dual clutch automatic, first introduced in 2010 in the VFR1200F. Two separate clutches change between gears under load without any interruption.
Honda DCT is unique in the sport tourer segment — neither the BMW R1300RT, the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+, the Kawasaki Versys 1100 SE nor the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT+ offers a comparable system.
Two riding modes for every taste:
Across Europe, more than every second NT1100 buyer chooses the DCT version.
Showa EERA stands for Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment — a semi-active suspension used exclusively on the NT1100 DCT Electronic Suspension. The damping adapts in real time to the road surface, lean angle, braking and acceleration.
A six-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) continuously measures lean angle and movement. From that data the ECU calculates the optimum damping and controls the Showa actuators. The result: more comfortable and sportier at the same time.
The IMU also enables cornering ABS and Rear Lift Control.

The NT1100 cockpit sets standards: a 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen with full touch operation plus a secondary LCD display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are fitted as standard.
Bluetooth connectivity for helmet headsets, a USB-A socket and a 12-volt outlet. The five riding modes (Tour, Urban, Rain, User 1, User 2) are selected intuitively through the touch panel.
With a seat height of 820 mm the NT1100 is easy to get along with for most riders.

The NT1100 uses a 1,084 cc parallel twin from the Africa Twin — liquid-cooled, Unicam four-valve cylinder head, 270° crankshaft. 75 kW at 7,500 rpm, 112 Nm at 5,500 rpm. For the current generation the torque curve in the mid range has been deliberately improved.
The NT1100 MT has a classic six-speed manual gearbox (238 kg). The NT1100 DCT replaces it with Honda's dual clutch automatic (248 kg). The NT1100 DCT Electronic Suspension additionally has the semi-active Showa EERA suspension with IMU control and cornering ABS.
DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) uses two separate clutches — one for the odd gears (1/3/5), one for the even ones (2/4/6). Gearchanges happen without interruption. There is a D mode (fully automatic), an S mode (S1/S2/S3, sportier) and a manual mode using the handlebar paddles.
Showa EERA is a semi-active suspension, exclusive to the NT1100 DCT ES. The damping adapts in real time to the road surface and the riding situation, controlled by a six-axis IMU. Cornering ABS and Rear Lift Control are included.
Yes, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on every NT1100 model. The 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen allows a direct smartphone connection. Bluetooth for helmet headsets is standard as well.
The NT1100 has five riding modes: Tour, Urban, Rain, User 1 and User 2. The DCT version adds D mode and S mode (S1/S2/S3).
The NT1100 MT weighs 238 kg with a full tank plus 12 kg for the panniers. DCT 248 kg + 12 kg, DCT ES 249 kg + 12 kg. For comparison: BMW R1300RT 281 kg, Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ 220 kg, Kawasaki Versys 1100 SE 259 kg.
You need a category A licence (unrestricted). At 75 kW the NT1100 is above the 35 kW limit of the A2 category. A restricted A2 version is not available. More on motorcycle licences in Switzerland.

Description — the NT1100 MT (NT1100A) is the purist version with a classic six-speed manual gearbox. At 238 kg with a full tank it is the lightest NT1100. Showa 43 mm upside-down forks, 150 mm of travel. A quickshifter with auto-blipper function is optional.
Riding feel — a direct, mechanical shift action with full control. The suspension responds sensitively and stays composed at a brisker pace too.
Reasons to buy — the best choice for riders who deliberately want the classic shifting experience and want to save weight. It is also the most affordable version.

Description — the NT1100 DCT (NT1100D) combines comfort and innovation with Honda's dual clutch automatic. It shifts fully automatically or on the paddles at the handlebar. Honda is the only manufacturer in the sport tourer segment offering a true dual clutch automatic.
Riding feel — stop-and-go in traffic, twisty pass roads or long motorway stages: you concentrate on your line and braking point, the gearbox does the rest. D mode is butter-smooth, S mode eager to rev.
Reasons to buy — ideal for high-mileage riders, commuters and anyone who wants to enjoy riding to the full.

Description — the NT1100 DCT Electronic Suspension is the flagship. It combines DCT with the semi-active Showa EERA suspension and a six-axis IMU. Cornering ABS, Rear Lift Control and finer traction control are included.
Riding feel — the semi-active suspension reacts to lean angle, acceleration and braking in real time. The result is a motorcycle that rides both more comfortably and more sportily than the conventional DCT version.
Reasons to buy — the choice for demanding touring riders who want the technical maximum, especially with a pillion and luggage.
The NT1100 has been in production since 2022. Two generations are relevant today:
Current model year colours (2026):
All colours are available at the Honda Dream Dealer Zurich or can be ordered at short notice. For second-hand buyers: the SC88 (from 2025) is the clearly better choice thanks to the extra torque and the one-handed screen adjustment.
The NT1100 has been in production since 2022. SC84 = 2022–2024 (104 Nm, manually adjusted screen). SC88 = from 2025 (112 Nm, screen adjustable while seated, larger panniers, new seat). For second-hand buyers the SC88 is clearly better.
For 2026: Pearl Hawkseye Blue, Matte Warm Ash Metallic, Gunmetal Black Metallic. All colours available at the Honda Dream Dealer Zurich or on order at short notice.
For high-mileage riders who commute or carry a pillion: yes, definitely. More than every second NT1100 buyer across Europe chooses DCT. In stop-and-go traffic there is no clutch work, and on long stages the automatic takes the strain. But if you deliberately want the classic shifting experience, the MT is 10 kg lighter and cheaper.
For demanding high-mileage riders who regularly travel with a pillion and luggage: yes. The semi-active suspension adapts automatically to load and riding situation. Cornering ABS and Rear Lift Control are exclusive to it as well. For solo touring the standard DCT is usually enough.
NT1100A = the manual gearbox version (MT). NT1100D = the DCT version (with the dual clutch automatic). The SC designation is the technical code: SC84 for 2022–2024, SC88 from 2025.
No, there is no official A2 restriction for the NT1100. You need the full category A licence. For A2 riders there are suitable Honda models in the A2 / 35 kW range.
You will find the available demonstrators, used bikes and new machines on the In Stock page. We regularly have well-kept second-hand NT1100s on offer — including with the Honda Swiss warranty. At the Honda Dream Dealer Zurich.

Even though the NT1100 is superbly equipped straight from the factory, Honda offers three original accessory packs. Every part is also available individually and can be combined freely. In stock at Honda Motorrad Zürich AG.

Ideal for commuters and two-up tours. Anyone riding regularly with a pillion benefits from the backrest.
The right choice for high-mileage riders carrying a pillion. In Switzerland fog lights are a real safety gain on passes and in tunnels.

The Travel pack combines every component from the Urban and Touring packs:
For everyone planning big tours on the NT1100 — right across the Swiss Alps and over the passes into Italy.

The five-position adjustable screen on the NT1100 is a standout feature: 167 mm of adjustment, operated one-handed while seated. Best-in-class wind and weather protection.
Combined with the full fairing, wind deflectors and clear hand deflectors, the rider stays dry — even in Swiss April weather. Heated grips are standard.
Honda also offers an optional touring screen with an extra 8 cm of height.

The NT1100 leaves the factory with two detachable side panniers — at no extra cost. For the 2026 model year: up to 37 litres (left) and 36 litres (right), big enough for a full-face helmet.
On the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+, Kawasaki Versys 1100 SE, Suzuki GSX-S1000GT+ and BMW R1300RT the pannier set costs extra — Honda supplies them as standard — ✓ advantage Honda

Honda offers three original packs: Urban (50 l top box, tank bag, alarm system), Touring (comfort seats, fog lights, pillion footrests) and Travel (a combination of Urban and Touring). All packs can be combined and are in stock at the Honda Dream Dealer Zurich.
From the 2025/26 model year the standard side panniers hold up to 37 litres (left) and 36 litres (right). Big enough for a full-face helmet. A 50-litre top box is optional in the Urban pack. Unlike Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki and BMW, Honda includes the panniers as standard.
Yes, Honda offers a homologated Akrapovic silencer as an original accessory. The benefits: around 1.5 kg lighter, a fuller sound, no remapping needed and full EC/ECE approval. Compatible with the original side panniers and the centre stand.
Honda offers a quickshifter with auto-blipper function as an original accessory for the NT1100 MT. Gearchanges without the clutch, on downshifts as well. It is not needed on the DCT version, where the dual clutch transmission handles this automatically.
Yes, the Honda original accessory range includes crash bars / engine protection bars and tank protection bars. There are also crash protectors (sliders front and rear). Every part is matched precisely to the NT1100 and available from the Honda Dream Dealer Zurich.
Yes, the centre stand and cruise control are standard on every NT1100 model. On many rival models the centre stand costs extra. Also standard: heated grips, self-cancelling indicators, a USB socket, a 12-volt socket and a luggage rack.
Yes, the Touring pack includes comfort seats for rider and pillion. In addition there is a low comfort seat (-20 mm seat height) and a high comfort seat (+20 mm) available individually as original accessories.
Not directly in the Honda original accessory range — the NT1100 already has a very touring-oriented ergonomic layout. Handlebar risers are available in the aftermarket and we are happy to fit them on request. Advice at the Honda Dream Dealer Zurich.
The NT1100 is a versatile sport-touring motorcycle. Here is our assessment of which version suits whom:
The NT1100 is not suitable for complete beginners. You need a category A licence (unrestricted). For beginners we recommend smaller Honda models from the A2 / 35 kW range.
The NT1100 could have been made for Swiss conditions:
The NT1100 is not an off-road motorcycle. If you regularly ride gravel tracks: Africa Twin.
For complete beginners, not really — 75 kW and 248 kg make for a serious machine. But anyone who holds a category A licence and has a few seasons of experience will find a well-mannered motorcycle. For beginners: A2 / 35 kW models.
Yes, very good. A comfortable pillion seat, ergonomic pillion footrests and grab handles. The Touring pack adds comfort seats and comfort pillion footrests. With the 50-litre top box from the Urban pack you also get a backrest for maximum pillion comfort.
Absolutely. In stop-and-go traffic between Volketswil, Zurich and the surrounding area the DCT automatic is a huge relief. Cruise control as standard, heated grips included, 5.0 l/100 km consumption. Commuters with a long motorway stretch benefit most.
Outstanding. 150 mm of suspension travel, 112 Nm of torque, agile 17-inch wheels and a narrow build (901 mm overall width with panniers). Gotthard, Furka, Grimsel — none of them a problem. The low 820 mm seat height helps when manoeuvring through tight hairpins.
No, the NT1100 is a thoroughbred tarmac tourer — 17-inch wheels, road tyres, full fairing. For off-road: Africa Twin CRF1100 or the XL750 Transalp. If you still want to build confidence on loose surfaces, we recommend a rider safety training with MX-Academy.
Within the Honda range: the Africa Twin CRF1100 (adventure tourer) and the Gold Wing (luxury tourer). In the middleweight class, the NC750X DCT. Personal advice at the Honda Dream Dealer Zurich.
With a seat height of 820 mm the NT1100 fits most riders. At 1.80 m both feet are flat on the ground. For shorter riders there is an optional low comfort seat (-20 mm). For very tall riders over 1.90 m: the high comfort seat (+20 mm) and the optional touring screen.
Honda quotes fuel consumption to the WMTC standard at 5.0 litres per 100 km. With the 20.4-litre tank that gives a theoretical range of over 400 km:
Against the competition: BMW R1300RT 4.8 l/100 km, Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ 5.0 l/100 km, Kawasaki Versys 1100 SE 5.4 l/100 km, Suzuki GSX-S1000GT+ 6.2 l/100 km. The NT1100 sits in the upper third for fuel efficiency.
The NT1100 has been ridden in many independent tests since 2022. Here are the main findings from long-term tests and owner reports:
In independent assessments the NT1100 comes out as a balanced, safe and reliable sport-touring motorcycle — a "rational choice" with outstanding value for money.
In real touring use consumption is 5.0–6.0 l/100 km — depending on riding style. Economical touring: 4.8–5.2 l. Sporty pass riding: 5.5–6.0 l. Honda WMTC figure: 5.0 l/100 km.
With the 20.4-litre tank and real consumption of 5.0–6.0 l/100 km you get a range of 340–425 km. On long motorway stages over 400 km without a fuel stop is no problem.
Very positive. The main criticisms in older tests (before the SC88) were the touchscreen and the pannier size — both addressed with the 2025 model. The engine (flexible), the DCT (relaxing) and the weather protection (best in class) receive consistent praise. Real-world tests confirm the touring qualities.
No systematic weak points are currently known. On the older SC84 (2022–2024) the touch controls were felt to be awkward and the pannier size too tight. Both were resolved with the SC88 (from 2025). The Honda 6-year Swiss warranty covers any issues generously.
Honda quotes a top speed of 200 km/h. Achievable in practice, but for a tourer in this class more of a theoretical figure — the NT1100 is built for relaxed travelling, not for top speed.
Honda tourers traditionally hold their value very well. As a sought-after, mature sport-touring platform with low maintenance complexity (parallel twin, chain drive), the NT1100 promises above-average value stability. Current SC84 used bikes trade at attractive prices.
Very fair. Typically for Honda, long service intervals (12,000 km / 1 year), inexpensive wear parts and robust mechanics. At Honda Motorrad Zürich AG you get complete service support from certified Honda technicians.
No, the parallel twin gives off considerably less heat than a boxer or a V4. The compact design and liquid cooling keep the heat on your legs within limits. In Italian summer traffic jams you notice less heat than with BMW boxer models, for example.
Both share the same 1,084 cc parallel twin, but they are built for different jobs:
Rule of thumb: 90 % tarmac — NT1100. Regularly off-road — Africa Twin. More on the Africa Twin.

Conclusion: the Suzuki is lighter and considerably more powerful — but it is a sports bike with a touring finish. The NT1100 has more torque, longer suspension travel, panniers and CarPlay as standard. For a pure tourer: NT1100. For a sport tourer: Suzuki.
On Swiss passes and narrow mountain roads the NT1100 feels more at home, while the Gold Wing shines on long motorway stages. For most riders the NT1100 is the better everyday machine.
The NT1100 is a tarmac tourer (17-inch wheels, 820 mm seat height). The Africa Twin is a travel enduro with off-road DNA (21-inch front wheel, taller riding position). 90 % road: NT1100. Regularly off-road: Africa Twin.
The BMW R1300RT has more power (107 kW) and torque, but it is 33 kg heavier and more expensive. The NT1100 scores with more complete standard equipment, the DCT automatic, a longer warranty (6 years) and value for money. For comfort and rationality: NT1100.
The Yamaha is lighter (220 kg) and more powerful (87.5 kW). The NT1100 has more torque (112 vs 93 Nm), the DCT option, Apple CarPlay as standard, panniers ex works and longer suspension travel. Sporty crossover: Yamaha. Comfortable tourer: NT1100.
The Kawasaki has 24 kW more (99 kW), but identical torque (112 Nm). The Honda is 11 kg lighter, has a lower seat height (820 vs 840 mm), the DCT option and Apple CarPlay as standard. The Versys is more of an adventure crossover, the NT1100 a thoroughbred tourer.
The Suzuki is considerably lighter (226 kg) and more powerful (112 kW), but it is a sports bike with a touring finish. The NT1100 has more torque, longer suspension travel (150 vs 120 mm at the front), panniers and Apple CarPlay as standard. For a pure tourer: NT1100.
The Gold Wing is a luxury liner (379 kg, 1,833 cc six-cylinder, 93 kW) — a touring flagship for maximum comfort. The NT1100 (248 kg) is considerably more agile, lighter and more usable every day. For Swiss passes and commuting: NT1100. For long European trips two-up: Gold Wing.
The key arguments: the only tourer with DCT, the best complete equipment as standard, the longest factory warranty (6 years Honda Swiss), the lowest seat height (820 mm), best-in-class weather protection and very good value for money.
Yes, clearly. The NT1100 picks up the concept of the Honda Deauville (NT650V/NT700V) — a compact sport tourer with panniers and cruise control as standard — and combines it with modern technology from the Africa Twin. Unlike the Deauville, the NT1100 uses a chain instead of a shaft drive.

Riding a 248 kg NT1100 safely on wet roads, at full lean or during sudden braking manoeuvres is best learned at a rider safety training with MX-Academy. On a closed circuit, with professional equipment, experienced coaches and theory before you ride.
Would you like to master your Honda NT1100 more confidently — above all in stressful situations, in city traffic or on Swiss mountain passes? Then book a rider safety training course with MX-Academy — fun and progress guaranteed.
The MX-Academy training recommendation for NT1100 riders: first practise riding techniques on the lighter motocross machine, and as soon as you feel comfortable, transfer the same techniques to your NT1100. The motorcycle training facility in Schlatt TG is part of the NASAK (federal inventory of nationally significant sports facilities) of Swiss Olympic and offers 4 different tracks — including a dedicated track for children and beginners, ideal for learning safe riding techniques.
