Honda has stood for many years for motorcycles that cover an exceptionally wide range of uses. Modern allround motorcycles combine comfort, performance and everyday usability, and they suit the daily commute just as well as longer tours or sporty weekend rides. The current Honda line-up offers several models in this category that embody exactly this versatility and rank among the most convincing allrounders in the range.
An automatic motorcycle takes noticeable work off your hands in dense city traffic and on long stages. At Honda this job is done by the Dual Clutch Transmission DCT: a Honda DCT motorcycle can be shifted automatically or manually, and the rider decides depending on the situation. If you want to buy an automatic motorcycle, Honda offers two motorcycle DCT models to choose from.
Honda X-ADV – automatic motorcycle as standard
The X-ADV comes with the Honda Dual Clutch Transmission as standard. Its 745 cc parallel twin delivers around 58 hp and about 69 Nm and works with a 6-speed DCT. Long suspension travel, a robust chassis and the raised seating position of around 820 mm combine the practicality of a maxi scooter with the riding characteristics of an adventure motorcycle.
Honda NC750X DCT – automatic motorcycle Honda for every day
The Honda NC750X is available either with a 6-speed gearbox or as the Honda NC750X DCT. The 745 cc parallel twin produces around 58 hp at about 69 Nm and offers strong torque low down in the rev range, exactly the character that suits an automatic motorcycle. Added to that are the large integrated storage compartment in place of the classic tank, a TFT display with smartphone integration and very low running costs.
An everyday motorcycle has to work every single day: on the way to work, running errands and out on tour at the weekend. If you are looking for a reliable everyday motorcycle or want to know which model counts as the best allround motorcycle, you will hardly get past the Honda allrounders. They combine comfort, performance and everyday usability in one motorcycle.
As the best motorcycle for daily riding, the NC750X has been one of the most practical allrounders in the Honda range for years. It combines touring comfort with exceptional everyday usability and very low running costs, the integrated storage compartment replaces the classic tank and the seat height is around 800 mm. That makes it an everyday motorcycle for commuters and touring riders alike.
If you are looking for a motorcycle for long distance riding, the CB1000GT is a sport tourer with an adjustable windscreen, cruise control, riding modes and traction control at around 150 hp. The XL750 Transalp covers everyday riding, travel and occasional off-road excursions in equal measure. The X-ADV scores with storage space and comfortable ergonomics in city traffic, and at around 192 kg and about 790 mm seat height the CL500 is the lightest everyday motorcycle in this selection.
The XL750 Transalp is one of the most versatile adventure motorcycles as an allround motorcycle from Honda and is aimed at riders looking for one bike for everyday use, travel and the occasional off-road excursion. The E-Clutch is an electronically controlled clutch. A compact additional module on the engine cover operates the clutch on its own – when pulling away, on every gear change and when coming to a stop. You still shift yourself with your foot, but you never operate the clutch. Stalling is virtually impossible.
An important distinction: the E-Clutch is not an automatic gearbox. It takes the clutch away from the rider, not the gear selection. If you want neither to clutch nor to shift, you will find the right models further down under DCT and scooters.
The clutch lever stays fitted: anyone who wants to clutch manually can do so at any time, after which the system re-engages automatically. Honda introduced the E-Clutch in 2024 on the CB650R and CBR650R. In 2026 the CB750 Hornet, XL750 Transalp, CBR500R, CB500 Hornet and NX500 follow – seven models in total.
The E-Clutch is particularly useful in city traffic and stop-and-go, for new riders and on long stretches in slow-moving traffic. All Honda models with E-Clutch currently available from stock:
I am interested in one of these motorcycles
I am interestedHonda offers two genuine automatic technologies. The DCT, the Dual Clutch Transmission, works with two clutches – one for the even gears, one for the odd ones. The next gear is therefore already engaged and the change happens without any interruption in drive. You ride fully automatically in D or S mode, or manually via thumb buttons if you prefer. Clutch lever and gear lever are omitted entirely.
DCT models in the Honda range: X-ADV, NC750X, CRF1100L Africa Twin, NT1100, CMX1100 Rebel and GL1800 Gold Wing.
The second technology is the continuously variable scooter automatic. It has no gear steps – twisting the throttle is enough. This includes the SH 125, SH 150 and SH 350, Forza NSS 125, NSS 350 and NSS 750, PCX 125, ADV 350 and Vision NSC 110, as well as the electric scooter EM1 e.

I am interested in one of these motorcycles
I am interestedAlongside the DCT, the scooter automatic and the E-Clutch, Honda offers a third solution that is far older and still proven today: the automatic centrifugal clutch. It is fitted to the Super Cub C125 and the ST125 Dax – models whose technology goes back to the most-produced motorcycle concept in the world.
The clutch engages and disengages on its own, controlled purely by engine speed. There is therefore no clutch lever on the handlebar at all. You still change gear, though – with a foot lever through the four ratios of the semi-automatic gearbox. In practice that means: open the throttle, change gear with your foot, nothing more. Stalling is impossible, and hill starts work even without any clutch experience.
An important distinction: this is not a full automatic like DCT or a scooter, because the rider still chooses the gear. Nor is it a conventional manual gearbox, because the clutch is gone entirely. The centrifugal clutch sits exactly between the two lists above – and for many newcomers it is the easiest way to start out on a geared motorcycle.
Both models are 125s and can therefore be ridden on an A1 licence. All Honda models with a centrifugal clutch currently available from stock:
